Overview
Tithikar is a Gujarati Vikram Samvat calendar app that operates entirely offline on your device. Astute Technolabs is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is handled.
Data Collection
Tithikar does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. The app has no internet permission and makes zero network requests.
Specifically, the app does not:
- Collect personal information (name, email, phone number)
- Track your usage or behavior
- Use analytics, crash reporting, or advertising services
- Send any data to servers or third parties
- Require user accounts or login
- Access your contacts, messages, photos, or files
Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device and never leaves it:
- App preferences — Your chosen language, theme, calendar view settings, notification preferences, and event category toggles. Stored in Android SharedPreferences.
- Reminders — Tithi-based and event-based reminders you create. Stored in a local SQLite database.
- Calendar data — Pre-computed astronomical data (tithi, nakshatra, sunrise/sunset times) bundled with the app. This data is read-only and does not contain any personal information.
Location Data
Tithikar optionally uses your device's GPS location solely to calculate accurate sunrise and sunset times for your area. This feature is:
- Optional — The app works without location access, defaulting to Ahmedabad, India coordinates.
- On-device only — Location coordinates are stored locally in app preferences and are never transmitted to any server.
- User-controlled — You can enable, disable, or reset location in Settings at any time.
The app uses Google Play Services Location API to obtain your coordinates. No location history is maintained.
Notifications
Tithikar can send local push notifications for:
- Daily panchang summary (configurable time)
- Tithi-based and event-based reminders
All notifications are scheduled locally using Android's AlarmManager. No notification data is sent to external services.
Children's Privacy
Tithikar does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app contains no user-generated content, social features, or in-app purchases.
Third-Party Services
Tithikar uses no third-party services, SDKs, or libraries that collect user data. The only external dependency is Google Play Services Location (for optional GPS), which is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
Data Security
Since all data remains on your device and no network communication occurs, your data is protected by your device's built-in security (screen lock, encryption). Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all locally stored data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
